Raking Leaves Tips
Nobody likes the hard task of raking a huge yard. Learn to quickly rake leaves to finish the task in a short time:
- Rake the leaves downhill, and also, with the wind, let gravity help by raking leaves downwards as much as you can. If your lawn is flat, focus on doing the raking in the direction the wind is going.
- Mow instead of rake. When you are at the beginning of fall and still have to mow your lawn, avoid the raking step and proceed to mow. Take the bag off, so that grass clippings and leaves are deposited on the lawn. This also reduces the work involved and allows essential nutrients to be returned to the soil.
- Make use of a leaf blower. This lets you stroll around in an upright position and blow leaves into piles or suck them up for mulch, or start a heap of compost.
- Find a rake that feels comfortable. If you are looking to buy a rake, look for one that is suitable for your body type. The more comfortable it feels and the more comfortable it is to use makes the job more enjoyable.
- Wear gloves and a mask for dust to help keep your hands and lungs safe when you are cleaning the yard.
Put the leaves in a bag.
After you've put the leaves in an arrangement, it's time to put them in bags:
- Leaves can be raked onto a tarp. Once you are able to transport leaves to another area. You can also put your leaves in garbage bags, which is easier than removing them manually.
- Make use of leaf scoops. The plastic scoops can increase hand reach and help you collect a massive quantity in one shot.
- Utilize trash funnels. The frames made of aluminum are light and compact. They can open your trash bag and makes it easier to fill it with leaves. It is also possible to have them placed on the side so that you can directly rake leaves into the garbage.
Reusing Some of Your Leaves
There's no reason to dispose of your leaves this autumn. Use a few of them to serve you by using these suggestions to reuse leaves:
- Create compost. The dead leaves constitute the main component of the compost pile. Begin one in the fall, and you'll be able to make nutrient-rich soil to plant in your garden the following spring.
- Make mulch. Do not neglect to pull some leaves under the trees and shrubs in which they'll decompose in the winter. So, you'll have more mulch when spring comes around.
- Keep your garden safe from the chill of winter. Protect delicate plants by covering them with dead leaves to shield them from the worst of winter's cold.
- Create leaf crafts. Before you start raking, choose the most gorgeous leaves in your yard to push against the insides of a large book. This will give you the base to create cute and unique crafts, including leaf bookmarks that are laminated as well as leaf prints, fall garlands, and so on.
